Translating the Literatures of Small European Nations, September 2015, Bristol

At the conference Translating the Literatures of Small European Nations (Clifton Hill House, University of Bristol) 8th to 10th September 2015, Yvonne Leffler and Gunilla Hermansson will present a paper discussing three of the many factors that determined a successful transnational dissemination of small literatures in the nineteenth century: genre, gender and nation. The paper will focus on two contrasting cases: the transnational reception of the romantic poet, Julia Nyberg (pseud. Euphrosyne), and of the bestselling novelist Emilie Flygare-Carlén.
